What’s New

Multi-client support
2.4 has been optimized to support concurrent login of a single user from multiple devices enabling the status of a user to be determined by the status any of the devices they use to login to Xchange. Xchange clients are now available for PC, Mac, Android, iPhone and Windows Mobile (Sept 2013).

Federated Servers
Multiple Xchange servers can now be connected (or federated) allowing geographically separate sites to share presence and chat data. This provides a very similar user experience to the existing multi-site solution but is better suited to environments where lower quality network connectivity exists between sites.

Multi-Site Time Presentation
Telephony events for a multi-site installation crossing multiple time zones are now presented as local time to the user.

Enhanced Client Security
Although earlier versions of Xchange allowed users to be manually created, they were normally dynamically created when the software was installed and configured on an end user’s PC. There was also no specific method to control users being dynamically created or to stop a user controlling another’s extension. Version 2.4 introduces options to control how users can be set up and can tie a user to a specific extension. It also allows a mixture of options dependent upon whether the user is making a connection from a trusted or non-trusted network.

Microsoft ® Active Directory Integration
Active Directory integration allows Xchange users to be created directly from users already defined in Active Directory. This feature is particularly powerful when used in conjunction with Xchange’s enhanced client security (see above) enabling fast deployment of secured Xchange user accounts. The Xchange user accounts will also be auto-populated with both internal and external numbers defined in Active Directory. This is very beneficial for clients that make use of DID / DDI numbers such as the Xchange Mobile client. Active Directory integration can also work the other way, that is, telephone numbers defined in Xchange can populate Active Directory.

Microsoft ® Exchange Calendar Integration
Microsoft ® Exchange Calendar integration allows a user’s availability and absence greeting to be updated directly from the Microsoft Exchange server. This can also be achieved by integrating to Exchange via Outlook integration, however, calendar integration through Outlook only updates a user’s status when their PC Xchange client is connected. Direct Exchange calendar integration will update a user’s availability and absence greeting regardless of the status of their Xchange client. Note: Publication of a user’s absence greeting can be controlled from the user’s profile.

Advanced Application API
This is an additional license type for Xchange that can provide integration to wide range of TAPI compliant applications. It can even support integration to a number of proprietary non-TAPI applications.

Although not a direct replacement for the Open TSP software, the Advanced Application API is a reliable, easy to deploy alternative for the majority of situations where the Open TSP would have been used. It also provides support for all the latest Windows™ operating systems and can be used with both 32 and 64 bit systems.

There is both a server (3rd party) and client (1st party) variant of the driver. An Xchange server is required both variants.

Tollring Connector
The Xchange Connector for Tollring provides a client side API for use with Tollring’s Active Agent Control product and related add-ons. The API uses the Xchange server to broker a connection to the OfficeServ system. It replaces the need for the OpenTSP license.

PC Client Feature Additions

Display Number type in Address book

Display type of number in results presented by address book search i.e. Mobile, Business, and Home.

Address book search shortcut

System tray dialing field can be used to dial a number or search the address book.

Focus Dialing

Focus dialing is an additional “click to call” option that automatically checks the contents of a selected field for a dial-able number and, if found, provides a dial button.

This advanced screen allows advanced users to more accurately control whether a number is recognized as dial-able

Web-page dialing from Safari

 

Dialing from the Safari browser now supported.

Call History Search Filter

Call History can now be filtered by a range of parameters; call direction, answered, not answered, internal, external, time of call, duration of call.

Call Control using Function keys

Keyboard function keys can be used to answer and hang up calls

Update Lync client status from UC client

The Xchange client will update the status of a user’s Lync client running on the same desktop based on the hook status of their OfficeServ / SCME handset.

Dynamic view of caller’s call history

Allows the Xchange user to see the call history of a caller simply by selecting the shared contact from the preview window when a call is active

Google Contacts Integrations

Search, dial and pop contacts from your personal gmail account

Software Assurance

Users of Xchange 2.3 or earlier must be subscribing to software assurance before their installation can be upgraded to version 2.4. Installations upgraded to 2.4 without having a 2.4 version license will not work until correctly licensed.
